Shadow training for the serious badminton player, to help improve your footwork (and potentially also your stamina). Use it on-court, individually or streaming to speakers for team footwork practice.
You will hear directions to move to seemingly randomly selected corners of the court, then return to your play center. You can select the pace, so you can focus on getting the footwork right. Ideally, you should use this on a real badminton court, with racket in hand. A smaller space may work if necessary.
• Plug in your earphones (ideally).
• Tap start and put down your iPhone.
• Grab your racket, and go to your play-center of the court.
• Listen for the directions: DROP, SMASH, or CLEAR, in either your LEFT ear or your RIGHT ear.
• Adjust the pace up to 60 shots per minute. Choose a lower pace to focus on the footwork, or a higher pace to also train your stamina.
• Select from 1 to 6 corners to practice in a rally.
• Specify timing for a split-step alert to help guide your readiness for the next shot.
• Specify timing for a hit-alert to help time your return shot.
